KCC baseball improves to 12-2 after six-game winning streak

The Kellogg Community College baseball team remains in the top position in their conference following a six-game winning streak that brings their conference record to 12-2 for the season so far.

The Bruins bested Henry Ford Community College in both games of a double header played in Dearborn on Sunday, winning the first 5-3 game and the second 14-2. Yesterday at home at Bailey Park in Battle Creek, the Bruins came out on top of a double header against Lake Michigan College 9-8 and 9-3.

(The other two games of the six-game steak were victories over Jackson Community College on Saturday, April 6.)

Sophomore right-hander Chad Mayle led the Bruins from the mound in game one on Sunday, pitching a full seven innings for the win and striking out six batters in the process. At the plate, sophomore first baseman/outfielder Kody Carson hit two for two with an RBI while sophomore infielder/outfielder Larsen Cronkright hit one and stole a base.

Sophomore right hander Dirk Ormsby pitched five innings for the win in game two on Sunday, striking out five. Cronkright hit three with four RBIs while freshman pitcher/first baseman Steve Remesnik hit two with two RBIs.

Stats for the games against Lake Michigan College on Monday were forthcoming at the time of this writing.

The Bruins play next beginning at 2 p.m. today against Kalamazoo Valley Community College in Kalamazoo.
