  • Students interested in learning more about service learning can attend a free Service Learning: Get the Scoop presentation from noon to 12:30 p.m. in room 302 of the C Classroom Building. Questions will be answered about service learning and students will have an opportunity to connect with community partners for service learning projects.
  • KCC’s Paralegal Student Association and the Student Life office will cosponsor a Constitution Day event from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. that will include District Judge Michael Schipper as a guest speaker. Click here for more information about the event from a post on this blog.
  • KCC’s women’s volleyball team plays at home against conference opponent Lansing Community College beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Miller Gym on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek. Scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013:

  • KCC will be represented at the ArtPrize art competition in Grand Rapids from Sept. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 6, in the form of a collaborative sculptural work created through a class held at the college this summer.  The entry, titled “Didactic Revolvers,” was created by art instructor Vicki VanAmeyden and 10 students from her ART 295: Museum Field Study course.   • Students interested in learning more about service learning can attend a free Service Learning: Get the Scoop presentation from 12:30 to 1 p.m. in room 302 of the C Classroom Building.   • KCC will offer a free Academic Workshop titled “Student Success” from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Spring Lake Room in the Morris Learning Resource Center on the college’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek. The workshop will explore tools and resources available to navigate a successful path for academic student success. Topics will include academic processes, transferring, KRIS, adds/drops/withdrawals, catalog information, career information and the advising website. All students are welcome!
  • Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business will host a Transfer Student Information Table from 1o a.m. to noon in the central walkway of KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.
  • Western Michigan University’s College of Education will host a Transfer Student Information Table from 1 to 4 p.m. in the central walkway of KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.

  • The art exhibit “Gates of the North,” by artist and adjunct art instructor Donald W. VanAuken, will remain on display through Friday, Oct. 4, in the Eleanor R. & Robert DeVries Gallery in the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.   • The music area at KCC will host a Music Open House for most of the day Monday, Sept. 23, through Wednesday, Sept. 25, during which interested persons may sit in on a number of classes on topics ranging from private lessons to performance ensembles. Click here for more information from a post on this blog.
  • A Welcome Event for students will be held at KCC’s Fehsenfeld Center in Hastings from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.
  • Students interested in learning more about service learning can attend a free Service Learning: Get the Scoop presentation from 5:30 to 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the Kellogg Room on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek. Questions will be answered about service learning and students will have an opportunity to connect with community partners for service learning projects.
  • A Welcome Event for students will be held at KCC’s Eastern Academic Center in Albion from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25.
  • A Welcome Event for students will be held at KCC’s Regional Manufacturing Technology Center from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
  • A Welcome Event for students will be held at KCC’s Grahl Center in Coldwater from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
  • Financial aid refund checks will be mailed on Friday, Sept. 27, except for first-time borrowers; refund checks for first-time borrowers will be mailed on Friday, Oct. 4.   • The Financial Aid Office’s fall Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal deadline is Friday, Nov. 1. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
