Kellogg Community College’s women’s volleyball team brought its season record to a perfect 3-0 after defeating conference opponent Lansing Community College Thursday in three sets at home in Battle Creek.
The Bruins took set one 25-17, set two 25-17 and set three 25-23.
KCC was led on the court by sophomore Kealey O’Day (Kalamazoo/Galesburg-Augusta High School), who had 29 assists, 1 solo block, 4 block assists and 2 kills; sophomore Hannah Landis (Three Rivers/Three Rivers High School), who had 11 kills, 7 digs and 1 solo block; and returning sophomore Kim Kusler (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School), who had 11 kills, 7 aces and 4 block assists.
“What a fun match to be a part of,” Head Coach Tom VanWienen said. “The ladies played a really good match against a very good LCC team. Go Bruins!”
The Bruins play next today and tomorrow, Sept. 1 and 2, as part of the Owens Community College Invitational in Ohio. The team’s next home match starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, against conference opponent Glen Oaks Community College at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, 162 Champion St., Battle Creek.
