The Kellogg Community College baseball team’s 21-game winning streak ended Tuesday as the Bruins fell 15-4 in a nine-inning game against Ivy Tech Community College at home in Battle Creek.
The loss comes as Bruins baseball hype increases in the wake of the team’s recent successes, with the team featured in an article on the front page of today’s Battle Creek Enquirer Sports section and the Bruins rising in the national rankings to second place in their NJCAA division in the latest poll.
Head KCC Baseball Coach Eric Laskovy said the Bruins “missed a great opportunity to grow and develop” in the loss to Ivy Tech.
The loss brings the Bruins’ overall record for the season so far to 30-5; the team’s conference record still stands at a perfect 16-0.
The team plays next at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, against conference opponent Grand Rapids Community College in Grand Rapids, then plays GRCC again at home starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Bailey Park in Battle Creek.
