Six-week Introduction to Fiction Writing class starts April 17

Blank paper, a typewriter and ball-up paper.

Kellogg Community College’s new Introduction to Fiction Writing Lifelong Learning class will teach you the process of fiction writing from initial concept to submission.

The six-week class costs $79 and runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from April 17 through May 22 in Room 304 of KCC’s Lane-Thomas Building, on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek.

You’ll learn healthy writing practices as well as strategies for the type of fiction you’re writing (short stories vs. novels, etc.). We’ll also cover fiction fundamentals, including outlining, plotting, character development, point-of-view and setting.

When finished, you’ll have the tools to complete a story outline, begin your first draft, refine a final draft and start the submission process.
