Nine KCC baseball players, head coach earn postseason honors from the MCCAA, NJCAA

Nine Kellogg Community College baseball players and the College’s head baseball coach have been honored with postseason athletic awards from the Michigan Community College Athletic Association and the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Freshman Adam Henderson, of Vicksburg, earned NJCAA DII First-Team All-American honors in addition to the MCCAA Western Conference Player of the Year award and several other awards. Henderson is the 16th NJCAA All-American in KCC baseball history.

KCC’s MCCAA Western Conference and NJCAA Division II North District award winners include:

  • Connor Brawley, of Stevensville, MCCAA Western Conference Third Team All-Conference, MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team
  • Alex Crump, of Grand Rapids, MCCAA Western Conference Second Team All-Conference, NJCAA DII North District All-Tournament Team
  • Derrick Edington, of Pickford, MCCAA Western Conference All-MCCAA, MCCAA Western Conference First Team All-Conference
  • Jacob Falzone, of Howell, MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team, NJCAA DII North District All-Tournament Team
  • Brandon Haynes, of Climax, MCCAA Western Conference Second Team All-Conference
  • Adam Henderson, of Vicksburg, MCCAA Western Conference Player of the Year, MCCAA Western Conference Freshman of the Year, MCCAA Western Conference All-MCCAA, MCCAA Western Conference First Team All-Conference, MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team, NJCAA DII North District All-Tournament Team MVP, NJCAA DII North District All-Region Team
  • Spencer Nelson, of South Bend, MCCAA Western Conference All-MCCAA, MCCAA Western Conference First Team All-Conference, NJCAA DII North District All-Region Team
  • TJ Newby, of West Bloomfield, MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention All-Conference
  • Mark Scannell, of Grand Rapids, MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention All-Conference, NJCAA DII North District All-Tournament Team

KCC’s Head Baseball Coach Eric Laskovy earned his ninth MCCAA Coach of the Year award and was also named NJCAA North District Coach of the Year. This season marked Laskovy’s 20th year of coaching baseball at KCC and 13th as head coach.

KCC’s baseball team ended the spring 2019 season as conference, state and regional champions, finishing seventh in the nation in the NJCAA’s Division II Baseball World Series in Enid, Oklahoma, in May. The Bruins finished with an overall record of 40-15 and a conference record of 26-2.
