The Kellogg Community College women’s basketball team fell short after a competitive match against Mid-Michigan College 64-62 at home on Saturday.
Leading for the Bruins were sophomore Jess Genier, who had 16 points; freshman Kalista Hubbart, with 16 points; and freshman Audrey DeWaters, who had 13 points and 16 rebounds.
“Mid-Michigan (22-2, 12-2) hit a tough shot with 1.1 seconds to play to earn the victory,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dic Doumanian. “We overcame an 8-point deficit in the fourth quarter to take the lead, but MMC proved to be too strong. We are on the road this week, then home Monday and Wednesday next week to finish out the regular season. Go Lady Bruins!”
The Bruins’ recent loss brings the team’s overall season record so far to 16-10; the team’s conference record is 9-5.
KCC’s next match is away at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, against the Muskegon Jawyhawks in Muskegon.
