O’Donnell, Barker lead KCC bowling teams to second-place finishes at Glen Oaks Invitational

Kellogg Community College’s women’s and men’s bowling teams placed second out of five competitors at the the Glen Oaks Community College Invitational in Three Rivers Friday.

The invitational marked the halfway point of the Bruins’ inaugural regular bowling season and brought all five of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s Western Conference teams together for the fourth time this year.

  • Emma O’Donnell, of Battle Creek (Pennfield High School), 5th place, 549 series score
  • Kelsey Kipp, of Battle Creek (Pennfield High School), 6th place, 541 series score
  • Steffanie Woodman, of Battle Creek (Pennfield High School), 8th place, 519 series score
  • Rachel Erskine, of Battle Creek (Battle Creek Central High School), 10th place, 506 series score
  • Jazlyn Lotz, of Battle Creek (Battle Creek Central High School), 14th place, 499 series score

Twenty-three individual bowlers were scored in the women’s invitational.

  • Zach Barker, of Charlotte (Olivet High School), 9th place, 546 series score
  • Bryan Foote, of Bronson (Bronson Jr./Sr. High School), 10th place, 540 series score
  • Lorin Taylor, of Chicago (Duluth High School), 13th place, 517 series score
  • Colin McDowell, of Marshall (Olivet High School), 16th place, 507 series score
  • Jacob O’Donnell, of Battle Creek (Pennfield High School), 17th place, 490 series score

Twenty-three individual bowlers were also scored in the men’s invitational.

Head KCC Bowling Coach Brad Morgan said the teams played well, but had “a couple bad breaks that derailed our momentum down the stretch. We are looking to defend our home lanes this week when we host the division at M-66 Bowl.”

After Friday’s competition, the women’s team is ranked second in the MCCAA’s Western Conference standings. The men’s team is tied for second with Muskegon Community College.

The Bruins return to action Friday for the program’s first-ever home competition, beginning at 11 a.m. at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no spectators will be allowed.
