Ten Kellogg Community College baseball players earned postseason Michigan Community College Athletic Association and/or National Junior College Athletic Association awards for their performance on the field this past season, and Head KCC Baseball Coach Eric Laskovy earned multiple Coach of the Year honors.
Among this year’s award winners is sophomore infielder Aaron Piasecki, who earned NJCAA First Team All-American honors as well as the MCCAA’s coveted Dick Shilts Male Student-Athlete of the Year award, which recognizes one male and female student-athlete from the MCCAA “who excels in their sport, in the classroom and in co-curricular activities,” according to the MCCAA. Piasecki also was this year’s Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete at KCC, recognized at the Outstanding Bruin Awards ceremony this spring.
KCC’s MCCAA and NJCAA postseason baseball award winners include:
- Sophomore pitcher Gavin Beuter (Three Rivers/IMG Academy), NJCAA All-Region XII, All-MCCAA, MCCAA First Team All-Western Conference
- Sophomore outfielder Cody Hultink (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School), MCCAA Second Team All-Western Conference
- Sophomore pitcher Jake Ickes (Dowagiac/Coloma High School), NJCAA All-Region XII, All-MCCAA, MCCAA First Team All-Western Conference
- Sophomore utility player Jacob Martin (Portage/Portage Northern High School), NJCAA Region XII Tournament Team, MCCAA Honorable Mention All-Western Conference
- Freshman pitcher Joshua Midbo (Chesterfield/L’Anse Creuse North High School), MCCAA Second Team All-Western Conference
- Sophomore catcher Diego Pena (Muskegon/Mona Shores High School), NJCAA Region XII Tournament Team, MCCAA Second Team All-Western Conference

- Freshman infielder Grant Welch (Birmingham/Ernest W. Seaholm High School), NJCAA Region XII Tournament MVP
Additionally, Head KCC Baseball Coach Eric Laskovy won Great Lakes District Coach of the Year, MCCAA Coach of the Year and MCCAA Western Conference Coach of the Year honors. This is Laskovy’s seventh consecutive and 12th total Western Conference Coach of the Year honor.
It was another banner year for the KCC baseball team, which secured its seventh consecutive MCCAA Western Conference championship and ninth NJCAA Region XII championship in program history. The Bruins finished their season at the NJCAA World Series tournament on Memorial Day with 44-12 record overall.
