The Kellogg Community College baseball team opened the season with a series of road games in Tennessee starting Feb. 6, coming home 3-1 last weekend for a short break before returning to the road Feb. 13 for a weeklong series in Florida and Georgia.
The Bruins enter the year ranked ninth in the nation in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Baseball Preseason Rankings, which were released in January, and are coming off another banner year as NJCAA Region XII champions.
Last season also saw the team make its 10th appearance in the NJCAA World Series in Enid, Oklahoma, where the team finished fifth in the nation.
The team’s first home game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, against Spring Arbor University at MCCU Field at C.O. Brown Stadium. It’s the first of more than a dozen home games at C.O. Brown in Battle Creek this season – all with free admission – before postseason play begins in May.
This year’s team includes a roster more than 30 players strong, more than half of which are returning sophomores, including several 2025 award winners and seven who have already committed to play for four-year schools next season. Head KCC Baseball Coach Eric Laskovy returns for his 27th year with the program and 20th as head coach.
