Kellogg Community College is renaming the College’s C Classroom Building the Sojourner Truth Building in honor of the civil rights leader with strong ties to the Battle Creek area.

The name was selected by the College’s Board of Trustees in November from nearly 70 votes submitted by community members last fall.

The C Classroom Building was constructed between 1964 and 1966 to meet the growing demand for classroom space just a few years after the College relocated from its original home in the Grand Army of the Republic Hall on College Street. Today, the four-story building is a hub of activity, home to classrooms, health simulation labs, student lounges and numerous faculty and administrative offices.
