Kellogg Community College will remember the men and women who died while serving in the United States armed forces with a Memorial Day Ceremony Thursday, May 21.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at noon in the Student Center on the KCC campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. The ceremony will include patriotic music and presentations by KCC students and members of the College’s Student Veterans Project.
Former United States Navy Reserve Personnel Specialist Kim Madsen, an Office Information Technology professor at KCC, will be the keynote speaker at the event, while KCC Board of Trustees Chairman Steve Claywell will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and KCC’s Director of Institutional Facilities and Public Safety John Di Pierro, a retired Air Force colonel, will serve as master of ceremonies.
The event will conclude at approximately 1 p.m. with the laying of a commemorative wreath at the base of the flag pole at the entrance to campus.
All KCC campuses will be closed on Monday, May 25, which is Memorial Day. Summer semester classes started Monday.
