Kellogg Community College is hosting an art exhibit including approximately 70 clay, metal and acrylic works of art by Battle Creek artist Mary Dey through Sept 16.
Dey’s “25,210 Chances, Choices and Changes: Clay and Metal Sculpture” exhibit opened Aug. 22 in the Eleanor R. and Robert A. DeVries Gallery in KCC’s Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center, on campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. The exhibit is free and open to the public for viewing during regular gallery hours, which are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
A Closing Reception for the exhibit — also free and open to the public — will be held with the artist from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 14.
Dey was born in Coldwater and raised with six siblings in Battle Creek, graduating from Pennfield High School in 1965. Over the years her education has included classes at KCC, clay workshops at the Art Center of Battle Creek with Dallas Shoesmith, additional workshops held around the U.S. and a metalworking class in Kalamazoo.
A cancer survivor, mother of three sons and wife to Ken Dey, Mary Dey has recently begun expressing herself through acrylic painting.
