The Kellogg Community College women’s soccer team faced another tough conference opponent on the road Wednesday, Oct. 20, resulting in a 4-0 loss to Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor.
KCC’s Head Women’s Soccer Coach Levi Butcher said the Bruins started out on the right foot and were tough and organized for a majority of the match.
“LMC posed a tough test for us with their speed and tireless work rate. They play fast, make good decisions, and share the ball well as a team,” Butcher said. “We had more of the ball than we did in our early season matchup with them, but couldn’t consistently connect the crucial pass that would have created goal scoring opportunities.”
Butcher said, “They put together a much stronger start than in recent games. That slow start has bit us more than a few times this season, and it was good to see the players begin the match on the front foot.”
Butcher also said, “Grace Snyder (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg High School) and Alison McGlocklin (Charlotte/Maple Valley High School) both played admirably in goal in place of Maya Ruelas (Kalamazoo/Home School) who is still out due to an injury suffered in the Delta match on Oct. 9. Snyder had eight saves and allowed three goals in her 65 minutes. McGlocklin relieved her and made four saves and allowed one goal in the final 25 minutes.”
The day’s results bring the Bruins’ conference record to 3-9-1 and overall record to 3-10-1.
