KCC's 2025-26 men's and women's basketball teams.

Kellogg Community College’s men’s and women’s basketball seasons opened this month and include more than a dozen home games on campus in Battle Creek.

The Bruins – the men led by fourth-year Head Coach Steve Proefrock and the women led by first-year Head Coach James Moore – will play their first home games this Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Miller Gym on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.

The women’s team will start at 1 p.m. and the men will start at 3 p.m., both against Mott Community College. Admission to all KCC home games is free.

Men’s Basketball

This year’s men’s basketball team includes a young roster with just one sophomore. The team is set to play 28 regular season games including 13 games at home on campus in Battle Creek.

“I am very excited about the upcoming season as we are a very young team, but we’re talented,” Coach Proefrock said. “There will be growing pains, but my guys have bought into the program and are growing exponentially each and every day.”

Women’s Basketball

This year’s women’s basketball team returns seven players and adds six new faces, as well as a new head coach in Moore. Moore for the past few years was an assistant coach for the men’s team. The women’s team will also play 28 regular season games, with 13 played at home on campus.

Returning players for the Bruins include sophomore forward Dayshauna Crowley (South Haven/South Haven High School), whose honors last year included spots on the NJCAA Region XII Division II All-Region Team, All-MCCAA Team, MCCAA Western Conference First Team and MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team.

Also returning, after a year off, is sophomore guard Kaylee Glidden (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School), who was an NJCAA Third Team All-American for the Bruins two years ago, when she also earned spots on the NJCAA Region XII Division II All-Region Team, NJCAA Region XII District A All-Tournament Team, All-MCCAA Team, MCCAA Western Conference First Team and MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team.

“I am fortunate to take on this new role with KCC basketball, having spent the last three years with the men’s program,” Coach Moore said. “I am looking forward to working with this great group of student athletes and getting to work on the court and in the classroom.”
