Kellogg Community College’s popular “Blaze Goes to Camp” children’s book is now available in Spanish.

The Spanish edition, titled “Blaze va al Campamento,” can be read for free on KCC’s website at kellogg.edu/blaze. Print copies are available at KCC’s on-campus Bruin Bookstore for $4.99, with all profits going toward scholarships for the College’s Bruin Youth Programming campers and initiatives for area youth.
Translated by A+ Media from the original 2024 English edition of the book, “Blaze va al Campamento” follows a young version of KCC’s Bruin mascot Blaze, a cartoon bear, and his classmate Bella as they attend and report on the diverse array of summer day camps available to kids on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.
The book is a follow-up to the College’s award-winning “Blaze Goes to College” and “Blaze Goes to the RMTC” children’s books, both published in 2019. Those books were previously translated into Spanish as “Blaze va a la Universidad” and “Blaze va al RMTC,” respectively.
All of the books have been illustrated by KCC Graphic Design Program alumna Sara Parks and written by KCC Marketing Director Simon Thalmann.
In the six years since publication of the first Blaze book, approximately 20,000 copies of the various editions have gone to print and been given freely to area kids, families, schools, libraries and other community organizations, and KCC students and employees have read the books to countless elementary school students across the College’s service district.
