The Kellogg Community College Marketing and Communications Department has won several recent awards for the department’s efforts to promote the College during the 2025-26 academic year.
The awards include prestigious honors from the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP+), University Photographers’ Association of America (UPAA), OnCon and others.
ACUP+ Awards
KCC’s Marketing and Communications Department this spring won two prestigious Production Awards from the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP+).
KCC won a Gold Award in the Graphic Design category for a poster promoting the Barry County College Fair, and a Gold Award in the Wide Format Posters category for a series of eight posters for display in the College’s Testing Center.
ACUP+ is a national organization for educational employees who work in in-plant print and mail operations at educational organizations across the U.S. ACUP+ Awards recipients were announced during the ACUP+ Awards Gala in April in Dallas.
UPAA Awards
KCC’s Marketing and Communications Department in June won two awards in the Annual Publications Competition from the University Photographers’ Association of America. This competition awards the best use of photography in university/college publications, with winners selected by a committee of designers, editors and marketing professionals from the college or university hosting the organization’s Annual Symposium.
This year’s awards were presented during the UPAA Symposium at the University of Michigan in June.
KCC won Third Place in the Printed Advertisement category for a series of ads created to promote the College’s new Associate in Fine Arts degrees, featuring stylized photos of KCC arts students and primarily appearing in the regional Encore Magazine. KCC also won Honorable Mention in the Posters category for a Health Sciences application deadlines poster including a portrait of a recent Dental Hygiene Program graduate.
OnCon Icon Award Finalist
Also in June, KCC’s Marketing and Communications Department was named a finalist for a global award celebrating the top 100 marketing teams worldwide.
The KCC department is among approximately 300 worldwide finalists for an OnCon Icon Award – specifically a Top 100 Marketing Team Award – from executive leadership company OnConference.
Final rankings – including Top 100, Top 50, Top 10 and Marketing Team of the Year – are selected via public vote open through July 22 and will be announced at the OnCon 2026 Virtual Summit in October.
Voting can be completed online at onconferences.com/mar-team-vote based on public observation of one or more of the following:
- The team has made a considerable impact on their organization
- The team has made strong contributions to their job function community through thought leadership
- The team has shown innovation in their projects
- The team leader has demonstrated exceptional leadership
Team and individual OnCon Icon Top 100 honors are awarded across several executive categories each year.
Additional Honors and Awards
The above awards are just the latest honors received by KCC’s decorated Marketing and Communications Department. The team last spring won seven national Paragon Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations, and won 13 regional Medallion Awards from the NCMPR last fall. The team last fall also won three international Davey Awards, including a coveted Gold Award in the Consumer-Magazine category for an issue of the College’s quarterly BruIN magazine.
KCC’s Marketing and Communications Department provides a variety of in-house strategy development, marketing management, graphic design and print services within the College’s Communications and Advancement Division headed by Vice President for Communications and Advancement Eric Greene.
Department employees include Mackenzie Griffith, graphic design process specialist; June Lewis, Print and Document Services senior process specialist; Cab Rininger, media design manager; Kristen Schau, Print and Document Services process specialist; Krissy Stolz, Marketing and Communications specialist; and Simon Thalmann, marketing director. The department also employs part-time student workers as an opportunity for KCC students to learn valuable on-the-job marketing, communication and design skills.
