It was a great night for the Kellogg Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams yesterday, as both teams returned to Battle Creek victorious after wins over Schoolcraft College in Livonia. Below are the stats for each game.
Women vs. Schoolcraft (57-43)
Sophomore forward Janeesa Jamierson (Battle Creek Central) led the Bruins in scoring with 14 points, while sophomore forward Malika Flenorl (Lakeview) added eight points and pulled down 13 boards, including 10 offensive boards.
Other leaders for the Bruins included sophomore guard Raeha Weaver (Lakeview), who scored eight; freshman guard Jackie Harwood (Sault Area), who scored seven; freshman forward Britni Upston (Tekonsha), who had seven rebounds; freshman point guard Teonna Pope (Southeastern), who had four steals and three assists; and freshman guard Therese Vasser (Southeastern), who contributed with four assists.
The win for the Bruins brings the women’s basketball team’s record for the season to an even 2-2 so far, though they have yet to face a conference opponent. The team plays next beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in their first home game, at the Miller Gym on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.

Men vs. Schoolcraft (83-78)
Freshman forward Nathan Taylor (Battle Creek Central) scored another double-double last night, dropping 25 points and pulling down 16 boards for the Bruins. The team had at least three others score in double digits, including sophomore guard Marlon Allen (North Farmington), who scored 18 along with four assists and two blocks; sophomore guard Quincy Armstrong, Jr. (Harper Creek), who scored 16 with four assists and two blocks; and sophomore guard Christian Covile (John Glenn), who scored 16 with nine rebounds, five steals and three blocks.
The win for the Bruins brings the men’s basketball team’s record for the season to 3-5 so far, although like the women’s team they have yet to face a conference opponent. The team plays next as part of the Delta College tournament scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8, in University Center.
