Kellogg Community College continues its tradition of offering international travel opportunities for students and community members with a European trip focusing on renewable energy in May.
The trip, which will run May15-24, is part of a three-credit course and will include visits to several locations in Germany and Switzerland, including Germany’s Black Forest; Freiburg, an “eco-city” and headquarters of the International Solar Energy Society; and Lucerne, a picturesque city in the Swiss Alps.
The trip will also include a boat cruise on the Alpine Lake Constance in Switzerland and a tour of the Entlebuch Biosphere, the second biosphere to be recognized by UNESCO as a site of natural science significance.
The trip will cost $3,850, which includes a nonrefundable $400 deposit due to KCC on Nov. 1 and $3,450 billed as a lab fee to participating students upon registration. This cost does not include tuition, spending money, passport application fees or course materials.
KCC has been offering international travel opportunities for students and the general public for several years. Last spring, the college brought groups to Greece for a trip focusing on philosophy and political science and to sites around Europe that were culturally significant during World War II.
