- KCC English professor Elizabeth Kerlikowske has been a busy writer. Kerlikowske’s work is included in the upcoming anthologies The Disenfranchised: Stories of Life and Grief When an Ex-Spouse Dies and Times They Were A-Changing: Women Remember the ’60s & ’70s, she has an essay titled “Death’s anniversary” appearing on pages 45 and 46 in the September 2013 edition of Encore: Southwest Michigan’s Magazine, and has a poem titled “Rescued Barbie” appearing in the online literary magazine Literary Mama.
- KCC English professor Pam Feeney’s children’s book Peaches and Posey’s Big Adventure is now available for purchase from Amazon.com. The book was illustrated by Thomas Graham, one of Feeney’s former students at KCC, and published last semester.
- Kerlikowske, along with English professors Ron Davis and Matt Samra of KCC’s Writing Initiative, spearheaded a writing handbook project that resulted in the publication of The Pocket Prof: A Composition Handbook. You can view the book online through the link or pick up a print copy free at several locations around campus.
- KCC will be represented at the ArtPrize art competition in Grand Rapids this fall in the form of a collaborative sculptural work created through a class held at the college this summer. The entry, titled “Didactic Revolvers,” was created by art instructor Vicki VanAmeyden and 10 students from her ART 295: Museum Field Study course. KCC students who joined VanAmeyden in the project include Natalie Cope, Adam Corey, Jeremy Gray, Madelyn Houghton, Kayla McCarthy, Taylor McCoy, Morgan Paul, Stephen Richmond, Liz Stafford and Nadine Weisser.
- Also participating in ArtPrize is adjunct art instructor Donald W. VanAuken, whose exhibit, “Gates of the North,” is on display through Oct. 4 in the Eleanor R. & Robert A. DeVries Gallery in the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.
