The Kellogg Community College baseball team continued its winning ways with a pair of one-run victories over conference opponent Delta College yesterday, Sunday, April 6, in Bay City.
In game one’s 3-2 victory, freshman infielder Chad Carson (Attica Township/Lapeer East High School) hit two, including a double and two RBIs, and freshman outfielder Benny Clark (Schoolcraft/Schoolcraft High School) hit a double.
Sophomore left-hander Keith Phillips pitched seven innings for the win, striking out four.
In game two’s 9-8 win, sophomore pitcher/first baseman Steve Remesnik (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll High School) hit two in three at-bats with two RBIs, and freshman outfielderConnor Owen (Richland/Gull Lake High School) hit one for an RBI.
Sophomore right-hander Kyle Smith (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) pitched three innings for the win, while sophomore right-hander Ben Spieldenner (Vicksburg/Vicksburg High School) pitched two innings with one strikeout for the save.
The wins bring the Bruins’ official Michigan Community College Athletic Association record to a perfect 2-0 for the season so far. Weather permitting, the team will play its first home games in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8, against conference opponent Ancilla College at Bailey Park in Battle Creek.
