Local author to read children’s book at free KCC brunch event for families

A text slide promoting a reading of the children's book "The Dragon and the Toothache" on KCC's North Avenue campus in Battle Creek starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, in the College library.

When a dragon had a toothache, he got help from two kids, and Kellogg Community College’s Christopher Martin wrote about it.

Martin, an author and KCC Department of Public Safety Officer, will read from his children’s book, “The Dragon and the Toothache,” in an event happening from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21, in the Emory Morris Library, located on KCC’s campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek.

Families and children are invited to this free event to hear the story of young Anna and Thomas and a Halloween encounter with Boris the Blue-Scaled Dragon.

The pair learns what makes their town scary on Halloween, and Boris learns about help coming from unexpected places.

“The Dragon and the Toothache” is Martin’s first book and was released last year.

The reading is held in collaboration with KCC’s Dental Hygiene and Early Childhood Education programs, and will feature a light brunch and a dragon craft for kids.
