1968 Spring Olympics included greased pig chasing and more

While the Opening Ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games in London actually started at 4 p.m. Eastern time, NBC is delaying their broadcast until 7:30 p.m.

If you’re looking for an Olympic fix to help you pass the time till the official start of this year’s games, head on over to the Kellogg Community College Facebook page, where we’ve posted more than a dozen photos from the Digital Archives featuring images from the college’s Spring Olympics, which the photos date to May 1, 1968.

You won’t find any archery, track and field, or gymnastics in these photos, however. The events at KCC were decidedly more eccentric, including a penny hunt (pictured above), a greased pig chase, a pie eating contest, and tricycle and canoe racing.
