Patrice Matthews of Clarkston High School has signed a letter of intent to play women’s basketball at Kellogg Community College and will begin playing for the Bruins next season.
Matthews won the Most Improved Player her senior year of high school, averaging six assists and scoring a game high of 16 points.
Kyle Klingaman, head coach of the women’s basketball team at KCC, said Matthews is coming from a great high school program and will be an outstanding asset to the team.
“She’ll do a great job for us coming in,” Klingaman said. “She’s a really solid young lady that will help us on the inside and outside game, especially outside. She does a nice job on the perimeter shot and defends very well.”
Outside of competition, Matthews served as an assistant coach for the Dare to Dream Fundamental Basketball Camp for girls and has also volunteered at Joe Carr’s Fundamental Basketball Camp.
“I’m looking forward to a great year here at KCC,” Matthews said.
