Bruin Bookstore collects 226 Hoodies for the Homeless

Staff members at Kellogg Community College’s Bruin Bookstore collected 226 sweatshirts for charity over the course of their November Hoodies for the Homeless campaign.

The collected shirts – the total of which was more than double the bookstore staff’s original goal of 100 – were donated locally to the Charitable Union, Mike’s Place and The Haven of Battle Creek

Catherine James, manager of the Bruin Bookstore, thanked everyone that donated and helped them to exceed their goal in helping the community.

“We are so excited and pleased by the wonderful turn out from the community, students, faculty and staff,” James said. “Everyone has really been great, not only dropping off gently used, but also new sweatshirts. Thank you all so much!”

The Bruin Bookstore is located on the first floor of the Lane-Thomas Building on KCC’s North Avenue campus, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. Store hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays.
