KCC offering youth basketball camps for boys and girls in July on campus

Kellogg Community College is offering six youth basketball camps this month led by KCC basketball players and coaches on campus.

Camps are separated by age and gender, with additional skills camps for both boys and girls later in the month. All camps are located in the Miller Gym on the College’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.

Girls Basketball Camps

Girls Basketball Camp (ages 8-12), $55
9-11:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday, July 8-11

Join Head Women’s Basketball Coach Sal Konkle and members of the women’s basketball team for this high-energy camp with a focus on the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, offensive footwork and defense. Players should wear basketball/athletic shoes and bring a water bottle.

Girls Basketball Camp (13-18), $55
1-3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, July 8-11

Join Head Women’s Basketball Coach Sal Konkle and members of the women’s basketball team for this high-energy camp with a focus on the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, offensive footwork and defense. Players should wear basketball/athletic shoes and bring a water bottle.

Boys Basketball Camp (ages 9-11), $55
9-11:30 a.m., Monday-Thursday, July 15-18

Join Head Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Proefrock and members of the men’s basketball team for this high-intensity camp focusing on the fundamentals: passing, shooting and ball handling. Players should come dressed to play and bring a water bottle.

Boys Basketball Camp (ages 12-14), $55
1-3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, July 15-18

Both boys and girls can join men’s basketball team and coaches for this specialized camp focused on shooting, attacking the basket, and the fundamentals of basketball offense. The goal is for players to become more efficient scorers and improve their game and overall basketball IQ. Players should come dressed to play and bring a water bottle.

Shooting & Offensive Skills Basketball Camp (ages 12-14), $50
1-3:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, July 29-31

Both boys and girls can join our men’s basketball team and coaches for this specialized camp focused on shooting, attacking the basket, and the fundamentals of basketball offense. About Bruin Youth Programming

KCC’s Bruin Youth Programming initiative, administered through the College’s Lifelong Learning Departmentwas launched in 2016 to expand the College’s regular offerings of sports camps, Bruin Bots robotics initiatives and after-school programs held throughout the year on campuses in Battle Creek, serving kids from first grade through high school. The initiative has since expanded to serve the community through an extensive summer camp program; community events including “Blaze Goes to College” children’s book readings and the College’s annual Bruin Boo community Halloween event; and more.

In 2019, the Bruin Youth Programming initiative at KCC won a LERN International Award in Best Programming for its efforts developing educational programs for area youth. LERN (the Learning Resources Network) is the world’s largest continuing education and lifelong learning association, and offers information and consulting services to educational organizations around the globe.
