Local graduates continue to choose Kellogg Community College more than any other college or university in the state

High school graduates in Barry, Branch and Calhoun counties continue to choose Kellogg Community College more than any other college or university in the state.

That’s according to the latest official education data from MI School Data, an online dashboard from the State of Michigan that reports educational information, including College Enrollment Destination data showing which colleges Michigan high school students are attending.

According to MI School Data’s recently released 2023-24 report, Kellogg Community College was by far the most popular postsecondary destination for regional high school graduates, enrolling more than six and half times as many high school graduates in the Calhoun Intermediate School District as the next highest institution.

According to the report, 21.5% of all CISD high school graduates who enroll in college within six months of graduating enroll at KCC.

This CISD report encompasses data from Albion Public Schools, Athens Area Schools, the Battle Creek Area Learning Center, Battle Creek Public Schools, Bellevue Community Schools, Harper Creek Community Schools, Homer Community School District, Lakeview School District, Marshall Academy, Marshall Public Schools, Olivet Community Schools, Pennfield Schools, Tekonsha Community Schools and Union City Community Schools.

KCC is also the No. 1 destination for students in the Barry Intermediate School District, which encompasses data from Delton Kellogg Schools and Hastings Area School District, and the Branch Intermediate School District, which encompasses Bronson Community School District, Coldwater Community Schools, Pansophia Academy and Quincy Community Schools.

KCC President Dr. Paul Watson said the top ranking – which has held for all 17 consecutive years of available MI School Data – is a continued validation of KCC’s strong tradition of excellence in the communities it serves.

“Kellogg Community College is honored to once again be the top choice for high school graduates in our region,” Watson said. “For years this ranking has reflected the confidence that local students and their families have in KCC’s affordability, accessibility and high-quality education. We take great pride in supporting our students as they take their next steps, whether toward a career or further education, and we remain committed to their success now and in the future.”

The No. 1 ranking is just the latest in a string of top honors awarded to the College over the past year. KCC in August was named the No. 1 best community college in Michigan for the second consecutive year by financial services company WalletHub, and in March was voted Best College/University (Within 50 Miles) in the 2025 Love Battle Creek & Calhoun County awards.
