Music lovers interested in pursuing educational opportunities in their craft can learn more about music education, singing and instrumental possibilities open to students during an informational open house this month at Kellogg Community College.
KCC’s Music Program area will host a Music Open House from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the College’s Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center, on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek. The event, which is free and open to the public, will give prospective students an opportunity to check out KCC music facilities and talk to Music Program faculty. Light refreshments will also be available.
Dr. Gerald Case-Blanchard, director of Vocal Arts at KCC and coordinator of the College’s music programming, said the event is open to anyone who has an interest in learning about KCC’s music curriculum and its numerous music performance opportunities for students and community members.
“The KCC Music Open House is an excellent chance for prospective and current students, as well as community members, to engage with our music faculty and receive information on the numerous opportunities offered through the music curriculum at KCC,” Case-Blanchard said.
These opportunities includes choir; band; musical theatre and opera; individual music lessons; standard music courses in music appreciation, music theory and aural comprehension; and more.
“There’s a place for music students at all levels to participate in the performing arts at KCC,” Case-Blanchard said, “whether by singing or playing in an ensemble or band or simply learning for personal development. Stop by, have a quick snack, and let’s make it musical at KCC!”
