KCC bowling teams open 2026 season

KCC's 2025-26 bowling teams.

The Kellogg Community College bowling season opened with an invitational in Indiana Jan. 9 and includes five additional regular season competitions before postseason play begins in February. 

Both teams are again led by Head Bowling Coach Brad Morgan and Assistant Bowling Coach Matthew Thrun, with KCC bowling alumna Gillian Lemon joining this season as an additional assistant coach. 

Women’s Bowling 

The women’s bowling team is coming off a record season of success in 2025, when a pair of Bruins brought home the first national championship in program history, in Women’s Doubles. The women’s team as a whole placed in the Top 10 in the country at nationals with a seventh-place finish, the program’s second consecutive seventh-in-the-nation finish nationally.  

Returning sophomore Emily Lemon (Marshall/Marshall High School) placed sixth in the nation in the Women’s Singles category at nationals last season. 

The women’s team last year placed fourth at the Michigan Community College Athletic Association State Championship and third at the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XII Championship. 

KCC’s 2025-26 women’s bowling roster includes: 

  • Freshman Kimberly Abbeg (Quincy/Quincy High School) 
  • Returning sophomore Olivia Butler (Homer/Homer High School) 
  • Returning sophomore Andraya Gordon (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School) 
  • Freshman Faith Hebenstreit (Olivet/Olivet High School) 
  • Returning sophomore Emily Lemon (Marshall/Marshall High School) 
  • Freshman Gabrielle Semenchuk (Jackson/Western High School) 
  • Freshman Zoey Stone (Marshall/Marshall High School) 

Men’s Bowling 

The men’s bowling team returns five bowlers from last season, including two – Zhander Lord (Marshall/Olivet High School) and Cameron McKee (Battle Creek/Lakeview High School) – who qualified for nationals last year individually.  

The men’s team last season also placed fourth at the MCCAA State Championship and placed fifth at the Region XII Championship.

  • Returning sophomore Brady Harper (Coldwater/Quincy High School) 
  • Freshman Tyler Howard (Battle Creek/Pennfield High School) 
  • Freshman Miles Lipsey (Hastings/Hastings High School) 
  • Returning sophomore Zhander Lord (Marshall/Olivet High School) 
  • Returning sophomore Cameron McKee (Battle Creek/Lakeview High School) 
  • Freshman Leeland Murphy (Marshall/Marshall High School) 
  • Freshman Hunter Pennington (Hastings/Hastings High School) 

Winter Bowling Schedule 

The Bruins opened competition Friday, Jan. 9, at the Ancilla College Invitational in Indiana, where both teams placed second out of five teams in their respective competitions. 

Future competitions will be held weekly through the NJCAA Region XII Meet scheduled for Feb. 20 in Lansing, with the NJCAA National Championship Tournament scheduled for the first week of March. 

The Bruins’ sole home invitational this year will be held at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek, starting at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30.
