KCC's 2024-25 men's and women's basketball teams.

Kellogg Community College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams opened the season this month after a year of unprecedented success in 2023.

The Bruins – the men led by third-year Head Coach Steve Proefrock and the women led by third-year Head Coach Sal Konkle – will play their first home games Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Miller Gym on KCC’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.

The women’s team will start at 5:30 p.m. against Alma College’s JV squad, while the men will start at 7:30 p.m. against Mid Michigan College. Admission to all KCC home games is free.

Men’s Basketball

This year’s men’s basketball team includes a roster of a dozen players, including five returning sophomores.

The team last year finished in postseason play and third in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference, with an overall record of 21-6. It was the third consecutive year the men’s team made the postseason and the first time since 2007 that the Bruins finished regular-season play with at least 20 wins.

Four men’s players last season – including returning sophomores Jakeem Cole (Chicago/Perspectives High School) and Ke’Marion Tucker (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central High School) – earned postseason athletic honors from the MCCAA. Two, including Cole, earned postseason academic honors from the MCCAA and/or National Junior College Athletic Association.
